Q&A: Champion questions
Use the form at the bottom if you would like to ask a question that we haven’t answered yet.
If the green man is on a question, it has been posted in the last week.
Q: What is a Champion?
A Big Church Survey Champion is a nominated or self-nominated member of a congregation who voluntarily takes responsibility for the collection, organisation and submission of the Big Church Survey information for their church. They will need to be passionate about sharing their Christian faith and bringing new people to their church!
The first person to complete the survey for your church will register your church for everyone else. We would recommend this is the Champion, but this is optional.
Q: Can more than one person be a Champion?
Yes! We are more than happy for Champions to share the role with one or more members of the church.
Q: How long will it take?
The Champion will need to tell church members in advance when the Big Church Survey will be happening so that they can get involved and to ensure that your church has enough surveys, a box (for people to return their surveys), and plenty of pens/pencils.
The Champion will then collect all the relevant slips and enter the information in our easy to use online form within a week or two.
Q: Do I need an iPad?
No, you can access and enter the relevant information via a computer, any tablet, smart phone or laptop. If you do not have access to any of these then information can be entered on a library computer or internet café.
Q: Numbers aren’t my strongest point – can I still be a Big Church Survey Champion?
Yes! All we need is for you to provide your congregation with the necessary forms and a box to pop them in. Once all forms have been collected you can easily enter the information into our online form. No counting is needed!
Q: I am not very good with computers, does this matter?
No, being a Champion is about being a friendly face. There will probably be somebody in your church who is computer savvy and they may be able to help you when filling out the online form. They may even agree to also be a Champion with you.
Q: Do I need to have been DBS checked to be a Champion?
No, all the information will be collected during your usual church meeting. If children are too young to fill out the form then please ask a parent or guardian to complete a form on the child’s behalf.
Q: What do I do if somebody does not want to fill out the form?
Participation is voluntary. For people who do choose to take part – and we hope everyone will - all the questions provided on the individual slip have a ‘prefer not to answer’ box, please remind participants of this!
Q: What do I do if somebody needs help filling in their form?
If a child is too young to complete their form then ask a parent or guardian to help. If other members of the church need help make sure help is given in a safe and secure environment.
